Dear Family and Friends, I pray this letter finds you well. I am writing today to discuss a serious matter with you, and I hope you can help with the situation. Since August of 2006, The Toney Brothers have been traveling in a 2000 Ford van. As of today this vehicle has 313,000 miles on it. It is worn out, and is trying to die daily. We are facing the reality of having to find another form of transportation. While in Texas a few weeks ago, we found a suitable vehicle, that is owned by a church there that they have for sale. It is a tour bus that they purchased several years ago. They use it mainly for their senior citizen trips, and youth functions. This coach was going to Colorado for a ski trip a few years ago, and ran low of antifreeze, and caused the engine to fail. The church took it to Denver where a NEW engine was installed by Stewart and Stevenson, A well known authorized Detroit Diesel Dealer. When the transmission began to have a problem, it too was replaced with a NEW one. This coach has about 100,000 miles on the engine and about 75,000 on the transmission. There is documented proof of this. It also has new tires. It has a total of 300,000 total coach miles, since it was new. It has been kept inside a garage since the church purchased it. Anyone in the coach business can tell you, that amount of miles is still considered new. This church paid almost $200,000 for this bus when it was purchased. We made an offer, and it was accepted by the church, of $20,000. I believe it to be worth much more to our ministry. A vehicle such as this would save our ministry around $2000 a month, that is now being given to various hotel chains as we travel. Most of you know that our ministry was started in 1955. And most of you have seen us over the years at local churches. And most of you know that we sing primarily, (95% of the time), on a "love offering" basis, in places where most groups will not come. We have considered what to do and even considered another van. But when the cost of a new van is considered, it is actually more money than this. We have tried to get financing, and I have been turned down by 2 financial institutions, and even a leasing company. All for the same reason. They say that we do not have a verifiable source of income. And have you ever tried to explain what a "love offering" is? One fellow, at one of the banks, said to me, "Now let me understand this, You and 3 others guys leave town every week, and you don't know how much, if anything that you will be paid for your services? And you want me to finance this?" Another said to me, "I think you should reconsider what you are doing" When I try to explain that this is a calling, they just give me a blank stare, or the phone goes completely silent. The reason I am writing to you today is to ask you for help in purchasing this vehicle. I know that you all believe in what we do, and I know that most of you have followed this ministry for several years. We have suffered many set backs, but yet we still continue, and folks lives continue to be touched. Most of you can not go, but we cannot go without your help. If each person could help some, then I know the need would be met. Some can help in a big way, while others can help in a smaller way. I ask you to prayerfully consider this. We even have a way in which your donation can be tax deductable, if you prefer. Many of you or your loved ones lives have been touched by this ministry, and it needs your help. Please send your donations to: The Toney Brothers We thank you, and we cherish each of you In HIS Service Terry Toney
